I just spent a weekend with Ruth and Jaycee - 2 fabulous, inspirational girls I met via youtube/twitter.
It was so lovely to not feel judged for my ED. Not have to hide it, and just be completely myself around other people, people who just understood.
Im not guna say I didnt struggle. Of course I did. It was evident that although we all suffered very similarly with our ED's, that I was definately the 'odd one out' so to speak. I dont mean that in a bad way at all, but although we have alot of the same thought processes, and even certain behaviours, it was clear my ED is definately very different from theirs. I found that hard in a way. And confusing in terms of my own diagnosis. I truely dont know what ED i have. And I dont like that. I feel I need to put a name to it. I related so much, I had an AMAZING time and I felt so at home, like I had known them both for years.
I also have to be proud for the fact that I actually overcame so many anxieties and fears all at once; travelling alone, staying away from home, meeting new people, being open about my ED and my story, all while being completely myself and not wearing my usual mask.
I feel in a way that the fight is beginnning to be worth the pain and struggle, for many reasons; the amazing people I have met and know I will be friends with forever, for teaching me to appreciate the good in the tiniest of things and achievements, for making me strong and determined, even when its hard to be...I feel like maybe fate has something to do with all this, and one day, I will look back and I wouldnt want to change a thing because I will be happy with the person it has shaped me in to.
